St. Mary & St. Abraam Coptic Orthodox Church

1843 Ross Ave.
St. Louis, Missouri 63146 USA
(Driving Directions From Lambert Airport)

St. Mary & St. Abraam Coptic Orthodox Church was established in 1976 to serve the spiritual and social needs of the Copts (Egyptian Christians) who moved to St. Louis and surrounding region from Egypt. Our Services started as bi-monthly in rented buildings in the Cities of St. Louis, Olivette, and Creve Coeur. The service was in Arabic and Coptic (Ancient Egyptian Written In Greek Letters) exactly as it is practiced in Egypt.

We moved to our present location at 1843 Ross Ave. in Creve Coeur by purchasing a house at that location in 1979. The garage was converted to a small chapel which was used for the service from 1980-1994.

In 1994, through the help of God and the intercessions of the saints and many prayers of friends of St. Mary & Anba Abraam we completed the construction of a beautiful Coptic Style Church building on adjacent property at 1843 Ross Ave. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, 117th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark Consecrated the new building on OCT 1, 1994 in a beautiful and memorable celebration.

We owe the bank $400,000 which is the balance of the Church building construction costs that amounted to about $750,000. We can use help in paying the balance. Checks should be sent to Church address, and Construction Project is indicated on the check to direct it to that purpose.

After 20 years, we have a new generation of Egyptian Americans born in the USA and new members not of Egyptian origin. Today, the service is mostly in the English Language with Arabic and Coptic continuing to maintain the Coptic Tradition and the ties to the mother Church in Egypt and around the world. The Intercession of the Virgin St. Mary and the Prayers of St. Abraam be with you and yours always.
